Gabriela Herman è una giovane fotografa americana, tipico esempio di artista est coast: nata in Massachussets, vive e lavora a Brooklyn ha già collezionato esposizioni in giro per il mondo. Bloggers è il suo ultimo progetto che nasce con lo scopo di ritrarre alcuni dei bloggers più famosi nel momento in cui scrivono, soli con il loro laptop nell'intimità delle loro case. Ambienti molto bui illuminati solo dalla luce bianca e fredda degli schermi sono gli elementi caratteristici di questo set. Computer appoggiati sulle ginocchia o sul letto, il computer accanto al piatto sul tavolo in cucina.
La vita dei bloggers è uguale per tutti. Poco è il tempo per scrivere, molto sono invece le idee. Essere un blogger vuol dire scrivere quando gli altri sono già a letto, cercare notizie la mattina mentre fai colazione, appuntarti un'idea per un post sull'iPhone mentre sei in palestra o in metro. Facce stanche, scontri di redazione, pochi soldi ma molti progetti, soddisfazione dopo un bel post, incazzature, sorrisi se le statistiche sono positive etc etc.. chiunque ha un blog si riconoscerà nelle foto di Gabriela o in quello che ho scritto. Come dicevo all'inizio, parole e immagini.
Gabriela Herman is a young photographer, typical example of east coast artist, born in Massachussets, lives and works in Brooklyn has already racked up exhibitions around the world. Bloggers is her last project thought with the aim of portraiting some of the most famous bloggers when they write with their laptops in the intimacy of their apartaments. Very dark rooms lit only by the cool and with light of thei screen are the hallmarks of this set. Computers on their knees or on the bed, computers next to their plates on the kitchen table.
Life of bloggers is the same for everyone. Little time to write and many ideas. Being a blogger means to write when others are already in bed, to look for news in the morning while you are having breakfast, to write down an idea for a post on your iPhone while you are at the gym or in the tube. Tired faces, fights with the staff, little money but lots of projects, satisfaciton for a good post, getting pissed off, smiles whe the stats are postive, etc etc.. Everyone who has a blog, will recongnize himself in the phots of Gabriela or in what i just wrote. As I said at the beginning, words and images.
